Yesterday when I woke up, my friend Ina [~naachaann] texted me informing that our friend Pia needs some help because her older brother just had an accident and needs 10 bags of blood for transfusion and they need donors asap because the hospital ran out of type A blood. I then made a quick decision to head to the hospital and become a donor myself. It was a big thing for me because I'm scared of needles like hell and I've sworn I wouldn't donor my blood after hearing my friend Icut's [~catrix-reload] unhappy experience in donating blood. But that morning I thought to myself, getting blood isn't as easy as getting dust from your under your bed. The hell with needles, I have type A blood, and I won't stay at home like a worthless idiot. Someone is in need and it happens to be my friend's family, so I said to Icut who was staying at my house that time, "Let's go to the hospital, I'm donating my blood." At first she was surprised and asked, "Didn't you swear that you don't want your blood to be donated?" But I replied that our friend's older brother is in need. I, myself have older siblings, and I couldn't imagine how I'd feel if it was my big brother or sister who was in the hospital.
After informing Pia, I took a bath and head to the hospital with Icut. We met up with Ina in the emergency unit and met Pia and her family. They all looked so worried, not to mention Pia who still smiled despite the fact that she was sad and disappointed that her blood didn't match her brother's and couldn't be donated. There were 3 other people there ready to donor their blood too. After registering our names, we headed down to the lab to get our blood checked. After waiting for quite a long time, Pia's dad finally told us to come with him to an emergency unit in a different floor to get our blood taken. There, me and another girl, Rezita, who was a friend of Ina, waited for our turn. We were both nervous. We saw Pia's uncle get his blood taken, and it was freaky liek heeellllllll!!!!1!!!1! He was lying down looking quite relaxed, with a needle sticking out from his arm that was connected to a transparent plastic hose which was already dark red in color, transporting blood to a little bag lying on a portable table. GAH!
A nurse lead Rezita to another bed at the end of the room and told her to lie down, while another nurse lead me to a separate empty room that I realized was for surgery, for dissection, to be precise. I realized it when the nurse left me alone for quite a while, and because of nervousness, I let my mind fly to a Nintendo DS game about surgery I like to play, Trauma Center, and the (hawt) main character, Dr. Stiles, who looked a lot like a character from a story I made with Icut named Seth, in whom I like a lot.
Not long after my imagination tiem, Rezita came in while drinking a glass of water and said that her blood didn't flow out smoothly, so the nurse took out the needle and told her to break her fast before trying again. The nurse in charge of me came back and went away again to get me a drink to break my fast before taking my blood. While waiting for the nurse to come back with the water, Rezita told me the details about what happened when she got her blood taken. She said that the needle was big and it hurt when they inserted it to her skin (duh). She then showed me the needle lying on the portable table near my bed that I've been trying to ignore along with the other equipments. IT WAS HUGE and it FREAKED ME OUT!!@##@@!1! DDDDDDD8
Holy crap I wanted to go home!!! But there's nothing I could do. I wouldn't run away, I've come this far already... Sooo, the nurse came back with my water, confused of how pale I was, and not long after calming me down from my fear of needles.
Just as I finished my water, Icut and Ina came into the room. They canceled their trip to PMI (Palang Merah Indonesia) to trade their blood with more A type blood because other people were also going and the car was already full. Rezita was told to go back to her bed for the second try in taking her blood. Ina accompanied Rezita while Icut stayed with me and held my hand.
It hurt when they inserted the needle. I cried a little bit, in fear more than in pain, but the pain went away as the needle stayed in my skin. The blood flowed slowly but smoothly into the bag, and while I was transferring my blood, another nurse came in informing the other nurses that Rezita's blood was too hard to get. So they only got a quarter bag of blood from her. After a while, the bag was almost full, so the nurse pulled out the needle and put on a band-aid. During the process, Icut took a picture of me suffering for documentation! LOL XDD

Afterwards I didn't feel so light-headed or woozy like people say I would feel. All I felt was the sensation of anemia which I've felt a lot during school days.
Later that day, I felt a great deal of headache. Ouch.

Well, it was worth it. At least I get to help someone~ Like Ina's friend Sheila said, this is about someone's life... I just hope Pia's brother will be okay. :]
